Being new here I feel someone has probably asked these questions in multiple threads before so I apologise in advance. Nevertheless two questions:

1. I’m aware you can delimit your E350 from 155, does anyone know what the max top speed then becomes? Or what have people achieved?
2. Has anyone modded one of these to the max. Ignoring all sensible options like buying an E63 as it’s probably cheaper in the long run, but it interests me if anyone has taken one of these and tuned it to volume 11 as they say.

Cheers!

The max speed will be whatever's displayed on your speedo, so if it goes to 260km/h (i think it did when i had mine) then that's the limit, I hit 240km/h on mine on the Autobahn and it was scary, not something i'd repeat too often.

Right ok thanks, so it’s pretty much 155 anyway then? I had my 3 series to the limit and like you found it a ‘clenching’ experience

I thought that would be the case but has anyone actually done it though?

No, just get a C63

I just like it when people don’t take the sensible option and do something outrageous and there is normally one out there somewhere

A bit like the chap who joined this forum with, I think it was a Pug 307. Might have been a 206. Anyway, he had modded it to have no visible panel lines, handles or lamps. The lamp units had been metal- sprayed to the same colour as the rest of the car, the rear lamps were made of less embedded within plastic trim that were only visible when illuminated. I think he said that it had cost him £84k over the years- yes, you read that right.
His other aim was to get an SL500 to the lowest possible height setting and still be Driveable.....

madness... I used to own an RX8 (I don’t know what I was thinking either) and some of the mods on those were mental

I asked @alexanderfoti about this a while ago and will likely go ahead next year when thing calm down a bit at work and we have sorted moving house.
Essentially you’d go for new uprated injectors, fuel pumps, hybrid turbo, intercooler and then a serious amount of custom remap work on a dyno, and the final bill is a few £k, if the car is a keeper however then I think its worth it, for me to get to a 63 with the same level of spec I have in my car and miles would be more like £10k+, so man maths means I’m actually saving money :D

Your man- maths is flawed, it should read “doing all this plus buying an E55K as a backup/ chase car means I’m saving money vs a new E63” :D:D:eek:

Last week, somewhere in Europe, I’ve hit 160 miles/h . CLS 350 cdi stage 1 by GAD...still room for 10-15% pedal in my opinion

I knew I came on this forum for a reason, I wonder what my wife would think to running an E55, might be a tiny bit different to her 169 now :D:p

Focus on how much safer it is, same turning circle etc and she’ll soon lose the small car mentality! Mine did ;)
