MB vs Indy

Hi there - I am looking to get my C200 Kompressor serviced ('B' service @ 35,500 mls). Does anyone know of a specialist MB indy in the Bristol/South GLOS area.

I have come across this chap http://www.bggriffiths.co.uk but I would appreciate any recommendations that Forum members can give.

nb. Have approached Sytners @ Cribbs Causeway for an age discount, but they weren't particularly helpful.

That guy griffiths is OK and he used to post here,,never heard a bad thing about him

If you're prepared to travel up to Gloucester, I can certainly recommend Robin Lamb.
He's an ex Main Dealer, now gone indie and all the staff there are very helpful and prepared to discuss your problem at a technical level if required.
Standard services are much cheaper than at main dealers.

cant say im surprised at that. same group as my local stealers. im sure Malcolm, sam unit and many others remember the recent saga from Alfiebeard and his SBC pump! they dont seem to be particularly helpful with anything at Sytners! i only avoid being fleeced by them because they know i work in the trade! (when ive got anything to go to!)

I posted a similar question in the "members only" area of PCGB, and the response there was also along the lines of "we don't do that"!! We can post positive experience of outfits, but they fight shy of anything contentious - for legal reasons, following a thread that nearly lead to legal action against PCGB. I can understand their view - was it this or the other MB forum that had a thread last month that got very heated about a midlands indie?

Lets make sure we can still recommend places where we get good, value for money service, whether MB main dealer or indie. My MB has yet to need a service (only had it since October 7) but I've had good help from MB Ashford and Eastbourne, very competitivly priced suspension and brake parts from MB Manchester and a very cheap MoT (£27, thanks to my AA membership) from Nationwide Autocentres in Ashford. Thanks to this and the other forum I also know to talk to Steve in Maidstone and Class Cars in Wingham for servicing - and Class Cars do Porsche too, which might be handy.

Please do not close the door on recommendations!

Just an update - Robin Lamb served up the goods perfectly for me - will definitely be using him again. Big thanks to Antijam for the tip.

For me, its less about the stamp in my service book (my car's five year's old now, and I've had it from new) but more I just want to drive it away feeling confident that it has been properly inspected by someone who will care.
