mecedes m class auto fault

hi everyone i bought an x reg m class 270cdi a few months back and i now have a problem with it.It wont come out of park,how does the release mechanism work from the pedal to the auto box,i manged to move the car by pushing in the overide button ,that worked fine,any help would be greatful i am a mechanic by trade so dont want to take it to a mercedes dealer

99% certain it is a problem with the brake light switch...

thanks mate thats what i was thinking ,it has two plugs going into it and the plug is white thanks for the reply

I also agree with iuncle benz the brake light switch is a good reason

try switch or its the gear selector.
