Hi,

I would like get yours opinion about Mercedes A-180 CDI '05.

It is automatic, 3 doors hachback, with 63000 mileage.

I am tall man around 1.90 cm so would be this ok for me?

Is it CDI engine noisy? Some people say it is

Is it worth buy?

Thanks

I take it you are talking the second generation A class, the 169, the current model (apart from a modest recent facelift). Most reckon this is a massive improvement on the original A class (the 168).

I had a 180cdi for a year as did my wife. So does my eldest daughter. And my brother has the A160cdi from 2005. They are great cars IMO and way ahead of any opposition in that you have all the legroom front and rear of an E class and a decent boot -but in a car that is easy to park in very small spaces. You won't hear the engine when inside the car on the move, so who cares if it sounds a bit louder than a petrol from the outside. I like the sound it makes. And at 70 road tests confirm it is as quiet as the petrols.

Lots of get up and go even at low revs. we had the auto version, which I like and my daughter has the manual which she and her partner like. Brother is manual too.

I have long legs and it is the only car of that size in which I can get comfortable.

I had comfort seats (that just adds tilt adjustment and adjustable lumbar but is worthwhile at omly £80) And if you are tall the steering wheel adjustable for rake and reach is a worthwhile investment in comfort at only £115. Pity they aren't standard IMO. Parktronic is useful.

Phone local service dept at MB dealer for latest advice on this. But I think it is (or was) every 40/50k miles.

Plenty of lower mileage ones about at crazy prices at the moment. Great time to buy
