Mercedes C220 CDI Esprit cold start problems

Hi,

I lost my mind as could not start my car for 3 days.
I tried do it by myself, after that when my battery was nearly dead I tried start my car by jump leads from another car and it was no signs for start just engine turning itself. I lost my patience and call recovery car. What do you think man started my car with power engine starter.
How I should locate fault in my car, is it problem with glow plugs,though plugs indicator light works ok, or it is problem with glow plug relay or weak battery?
I do not know what to do?

Do you have any warning lamps on in the dash.

And was the engine turning over very fast when trying to start on the cars own battery

No, there is no any warning lights on the dash.
The engine turning speed was normal but some people say not as fast as should be. When engine is warm there is no problem with starting.
I have Halfords battery and it is OK, but maybe not suitable to deliver required power for glow plugs. I think if say 2 glow plugs not working properly
anyway should be some signs of engine starting when cold but as I said glow plugs indicator light works ok. Maybe it can be glow plug relay?

The Halfords battery is the answer, they are renown for this.

I had terrible battles with them over the same issue, one of the cells goes high resistance make starts in the morning near impossible, but fine for the rest of the day

OK I will try to change battery. Which battery I should buy?
I think about Banner battery or should I buy Varta Silver?

One of your injectors may be leaking off. The 2150cc cdi engine is known for this. Look at the fuel pipes with the engine running - air bubbles present could be a symptom. Any decent diesel fuel injection specialist should be able to do a leak off test for you and the injectors can be repaired. The last one I had gave me a cold start problem and was about £200 for diagnosis, removal and repair of one injector.
