Mercedes C220 CDI Esprit cold start

Hi,

I have Mercedes C220 CDI 2000.
I have problem with cold engine start. It takes crank engine a few times before it starts.The glow plug indicator lamp goes on and goes out as normal.
There is no problem with warm engine start. What kind of problem it is?

Poss a injector leaking off, you also could have a air leak in the system letting the fuel run back over night, the list could go on but they come to mind first!!!!

Hi,

How to check is a air leak in the system? The injectors were serviced recently.

one of the pipes coming from the high pressure pump is clear, (might have a plastic black sleeve on it), clean pipe up and get someone to start car from cold and see if you can see air bubbles going through the pipe then you have found the fault!

I would like to know how to test glow plugs? Where glow plugs relay is located in the engine?
