I am having a similar display, same model and just out of warranty (i do have an extended warranty though). Getting similar battery management error U301700, starter motor P06E900, but also crankcase ventilation valve faulty (stored only) P052E71. Will let you know how I get on. In any event i do not regard the above as acceptable from Mercedes - there is obviously a design flaw here and they have an obligation to provide fit for purpose products. Having a car that is effectively irrepairable after only 3 years is not tenable. I would certainly make a lot of noise Did you get your car fixed in the end?

Any advice on how to make a lot of noise? I am at my wits end with my 2016 C350e. I bought it from new. Within a few months, while charging, the battery died and I was unable to unlock the car or start it. They blamed this on a faulty charging cable. Last year, I ended up replacing fuel pump and starter motor. Funnily, this occurred just have the warranty expired. Two weeks ago, after charging the car (using 7kw wall box), I noticed a burning smell, which would disappear on driving, but would be present everytime the car was cold or had been off for at least 30 minutes. I have been informed today that they believe this is due to a faulty control unit on the battery. Again, they are claiming i will have to foot the bill as the battery is covered under warranty but not the surrounding units.

I bought a mercedes, as do most of us, for the brand association which suggests reliability, as well as an element of luxury. Unfortunately, my experience has been less than pleasant, and I am seriously considering getting rid of the car once its fixed. I really would not recommend the C-class hybrid to anyone!

A great reason to avoid duracells/ hybrids.
When they have been around for 20 yr and maybe more understanding and wriggles avail. But suspect I won't be worrying about that.

As I’ve said many times if you must buy a Hybrid/EV buy a Toyota they have 20 years+ experience in the field BUT do try one before you buy they are not a Mercedes or anywhere near so conventional drivetrains it is until Mercedes EVs are proven to be viable and reliable

Hi, I have a c350e 2016
It has malfunction warning the garage changed the sensor inside the oil reservoir but the problem maintained
Drives perfect on petrol, only uses 60% hybrid but as I change to E-SAVE mode it jumps, the light malfunction comes and only drives on petrol even if I change to hybrid. On the diagnostic computer at the garage says malfunction on starter combustion engine as one code and the other code had to do with electrical failure and both says general failure at the end.
Only have the car for 3 weeks, what should I do?
Is this a minor problem that can be fixed?
Is it too expensive?
What should I do?

This advise is spot on, people should do research on the Mercedes hybrid before buying, am seeing so many owners who are having problems with them, in this day and age it’s so easy to do research.

I was considering a Mercedes hybrid, after reading so many owners having issues, deciding against it, and went for the diesel option.

So at the preset time, if unable to charge at home, and if Mercedes can't fill the bill, is there any HEV worth buying out there? Or just stay with what you've got?

No, buy a V8 or V12 whilst you still can...

Probably as said somewhere a Lexus.

Self-charging hybrid electric models from Lexus and Toyota have registered perfect 100 per cent scores in the 2019 What Car? Reliability Survey. The results drawn from the responses of more than 18,000 British motorists reaffirm the long-lasting quality and durability of the technology, pioneered by Toyota since 1997.

Yep, reading so many bad stories regarding Mercedes Hybrid. Toyota/Lexus, is definitely the wisest choice.

Toyota/Lexus was/is well ahead of the game and who else would you want to design and build your electronics.

If they made a large estate I would be driving it.

Quite possibly an engine starter motor problem---very high failure rate- replacement usually effects a cure

I agree with what has already been said above . I certainly won't consider a hybrid from Mercedes, or JLR for a quite a few more years.

The new Lexus NX 450h+ does look rather tasty though.

I have the dreaded malfunction error too.

Main dealer changed the starter motor and did not cure the issue. Car is going back in the garage next week so I will report on what else they will try do fix.

Dealer finally resolved the issue:

Took them around 6 hours to eventually resolve. The disconnected the wiring to the battery/coolant system. I believe there may have been some corrosion on the contacts.

Just relieved the "malfunction" error does not come up anymore.
