Hi all , nice looking site :D ...I wonder if anyone can help ...I have inhertited a 300E -24 (1990 ) with low miles 80k...it runs very well and is in superb condition, however there is a oil leak from what looks like the cylinder head gasket. .does any one know of a reliable repairer in the Derbys / Notts area that I can trust with this treasured vehicle..I dont want to take it to the main dealer as I dont think they will give the car the love it deserves (besides being devilishly expensive:rolleyes: ) Many thanks in anticipation Tim

Hi lomoto,
Welcome to the forum!
I would be careful about assuming it is the head gasket at fault. Although these engines are prone to head gasket failure at some point in their life the cause of the problem may be elsewhere. Check out the timing cover gasket, the joint between the block and cylinder head can be troublesome and weep. If this is not the case then you are probably right and the head gasket will need replacing.

There is a specialist at Duffield, link attached:

I havn't used them but they have been established for some time.

Hope this helps!

Thanks for the welcome and the info,I will check them out today...I think it is definitely coming from the cylinder head joint, and I must say I am suprised at this for such a relatively low mileage car with full main dealer history and serviced probably at twice the recommended amounts ! Do these models suffer from head problems ? and anything else I should look for Thanks Tim
