How can i find the bhp on my car is it 245bhp or272bhp

If it is the pre-facelift 3.7l then it has 245bhp. The post-facelift 3.5l has 272bhp.

Thanks to both of you Its not as simple as it looks Its says 245bhp in the handbook but theres a small percentage of 272bhp and they dont document it Yes you are right about the facelift model 3.5l But they do the 272bhp from 53plate If you look on autotrader under sl350 you will see 1 or 2 of these cars 53/06 plate they are very rare

Can't you check somewhere by using the engine number or chassis number?

Hi Ive asked two different merc dealers one says 245bhp and the other 272bhp thats what bothers me I would look for the engine number but i cant find it thanks

Engine number should be on the V5, you could always get it dyno tested.

It is simple.

The 3.7l V6 M112 engine in the pre-facelift (2002-2006) SL350 has 245bhp.

The 3.5l V6 M272 engine in the post-facelift (2006-2008 ) SL350 has 272bhp.

If someone is claiming that a 53 plate SL350 has 272bhp then they are either mistaken or pulling a fast one.

If you are not sure if you are looking at a pre or post-facelift car then check the V5 registration document. If the engine capacity is 3724cc then it is pre-facelift and has 245bhp. If the engine capacity in 3498cc then it is post-facelift and has 272bhp.
