I had my C230 sedan on a parking lot one night when I decided to stop by pay a visit to an old friend when I was driving. After we talked and had coffee and a good time, i went back to my car two hours later and saw my star gone and my grille tilted. I was furious and drove home from there looking like I just came out of a small scene in James Bond.

Anyways, I'm wondering how much will it cost me to replace a new one.

I think they're about £15 from the dealer and easy enough to fit, providing other damage isn't too bad.

As Alex says £15 from a dealer, and often fitted free, the Moral here is,do not visit old friends. :D :D :D

I'm reeling at the thought of a dealer doing something for free!

Nearly a year of ownership and my star remains intact, even though I'm parked on the street during the working day - but I guess my old barge doesn't provoke jealousy theft/vandalism

I know, It does seem a tad foolhardy to have said it! But I'm not superstitious or a believer in fate...now, where did I leave that lucky rabbit's foot!?:???:

It hasn't happened to me for a while - for one of three reasons

(1) the pikey kids who were doing it (three times in a row .....) got bored

(2) the pikey kids are now over five and are probably having more fun with knife crime

(3) I have moved a few streets away - more than a mile from the nightmare pikey familey from hell - Wha hey!!

(PS the answer is (2) and (3) )

You had me for a minute there; Snatch, right? Great pikey reference, blobcat.
I had an American accent in my head reading it, so thought it was 'My Name is Earl' at first...

I was going to buy one of those removable stars.
Then keep it just in case the worst happened.
Just wondering whether this makes me a realist?
Or maybe an optimist?
Even a pragmatist?
Probably a realistic, pragmatic optimist.

Don't worry Malcolm! Blobcat's gone and thrown in a quote from the film Snatch, presumably on account of Brad Pitt (I think?) playing a pikey character - see early posts in this thread.

Are we allowed to use the word pikey anyway....? Oh gawd....:???:
