I looking to purchase a SL W107 and have decided that I would like the 500. My reasons are that I do not do a massive mileage and the prices and insurance seem similar for all SLs, so a bigger engined one would hopefully do me better service. I intend keeping it for a very long time.

Does anyone have any comments or suggestions,

Have I made the right choice?

Any tips for making a good buy?

Are there many differences between an 82 or an 88 model?

As I would have to put up some kind of pulley in the garage for the hardtop does nayone know the weight it will have to support?

On the subject of hoists...I have got diagrams for the 107 hoist if you are interested BUT I have never used them or advised their use as I always worry what goes up comes down..thats fine as long as it is when you want it too...although I can supply hoists if you have the space I would recommend a stand and cover
