mileage display for mot

Hi, My sprinter will not display mileage total, will this be a mot fail?

Sure will as far as i know . Milege must be put on to your new MOT . A lot of insurance companys check for the milage via the GOV web site . ,, this way insurance compny can check if you are on a fixed milage insurance like 5000 per year . You could play dumb and see how you get on . Also so many owners years ago would disable the milage counter after each mot so when they come to sell the van or car will get more for the vehicle .

My V8 MGB GT is used a lot on the continent & I have 2 speedometers, one miles, one Km. I have sometimes forgotten to install the miles one for an MoT so the history looks "interesting" - there's never been a comment from the MoT test station, my insurers or the DVLA

Think Carsoft reads the miles from the ECU? Just wondering if it does can this device affect the info to the icarsoft too?

Just goes to show the lengths some people will go to . Just to deceive some unsuspected buyer .
Nice to know if - max 411 got his Sprinter through MOT with blank speedo reading just to solve this .

Not on the sprinters unfortunately, I have a tame builder who suspected his new (to him) van had been cocked and I mentioned it to my Indy, they confirmed that it’s unfortunately very easy to clock sprinters compared to a non commercial vehicle

van booked in for 1st feb, I live in N,Ireland, we have gov test centres over here, massive back log with bookings, but done a mot check on van passed last Jan with 0 miles reading, i got it in Feb, so should be ok, will keep group posted

Just remember to get it fully washed underneath before you take it in…

You'll get a date some morning shortly Max, I had to work between 3 local MOT centres within a 30 mile radius to get quick dates. Around 9-10am best time to try as I'm sure you'll already know
