A new head several injectors and this week a recon alternator. The local mechanic says its rough and he was wary of steaming the top of the engine to find any leaks incase the electronics went u/s! Can things get any worse?

How do I find the leaks if I can't steam the engine. I was hoping the residue and the associated burning smell was down to spillage when the latest injector was done a couple of weeks ago. There's no sign of spots on the floor. Does anyone have any solutions? or advice?

She's done 141K but I thought when we had her 4yrs ago at 90k there was plenty left. Now I don't know. Help please!!!!

They appear to be from around the front top of the engine but can't be sure. I want to steam the the engine off but don't know whether the electrics will be effected. No great problems at the moment theres not much else can go wrong. New head, its just had a new alternator and several injectors.
