hi i asked a similar question some months ago but the problem stopped.until a few days ago.the car starts great from cold but once in a while when warm it wont restart.the engine just turns.if its left to cool then it starts first time.for the first time today it just stopped while waiting in traffic.didnt feel like fuel starvation it just stopped dead.after a few minutes of bringing tamworth to a standstill it finally started.any pointers would be of massive help.thanks:

Hi. When it happens again, have a look at the clear plastic fuel lines around the fuel filter. If you can see air bubbles thats probably your problem. Having said that air in lines usually causes bad cold starting but its worth a look. Would be a good idea to take off the top engine covers and store them at home till you resolve this one, My C270 has 2 covers held by 6 torx bolts, I think yours is the same.

Hope this helps
Peter

just happened again, fuel lines look full of fuel and no air.ive read crankshaft sensors can cause this.is it worth changing that to try and eliminate the poss causes.then fuel filter and so on.

Last year the wife's car had the same problem. It would cut out for no reason then not re-start. it was explained to me that once the sensor starting to fail the heat going through it was causing the problem.

It was not on a Merc it was on a 2.5V6 SRI Vectra auto, but it sounds just the same as what we were having. There were 2 on the Vectra changed that and also cleaned out the idle control jet and the problem was gone.

Darren

CDI crank sensor

Hi.

The crank position sensor on a C270cdi is near the flywheel, looking at the engine from the front of the car, its about 2 O clock on the rim of the flywheel. My book says remove the insulation below the engine so access looks like from the bottom. Would a faulty crank sensor throw up a check engine light ?.

In my email I suggested an Injector problem.

I can test them for you if you wish.
