Ml 270 cdi won't start help!!!

Ive got a 2000 ml 270 cdi which wont start, i jump started it on sunday and it started no problem, leading me to believe the battery was the fault. I replaced the battery today and it still wont start ,when i turn the key there is nothing , tried to jump start again but still nothing

anyone have any ideas?

yeah all dash lights on as normal
no warning light prior to not starting.

Try putting a jump lead from the chassis to the engine and try again, make sure there good connections!!!!

If that starts it then a very cheap fix!!

Thought it would, on the o/s engine mount is a earth strap thats hard as nails, its snapped of, just went to the shed to get the part number for you but i have taken all of them to the workshop, got about 5 new ones for some reason!! if you ring me tomorrow i will give you the part number you need, about a £10, or if you near southampton, pop in and we will fit it for you for £25!!

I replaced the o/s engine mount earthing strap yesterday and it started first time, I wish all repairs were this easy and cheap.

Sam - is this fault unique to the MLs or is it common across all diesels?

Reason I ask is I've had the same symptoms on 2 occasions on my w203 in the last year, and it was not the starter fuse as in the DIY section. It hasn't occurred again so suspect a poor connection somewhere.

This strap is common to the ML, but all mercs have a earth strap to the engine, dont rule it out!!
