ML Gearbox Problem?

It's the latest thing to go wrong.I can reverse off the drive, put it into drive and either nothing happens, or it revs high as I pull away,for about 20 metres then drops dramatically. All seems well then although the Mrs tells me that it has happenned to her after about 20 mins of driving. I can then switch everything off, and it's fine til next time. I'm off to France in two weeks with caravan in tow, so any answers will be greatfully received. Thanks

first off get the oil level checked, multiplugs are quite common to leak, not enough oil can cause this problem, this is the first port of call,, any gearbox problem always check the oil level/condition first, cheers mb tech
