Has any one had problem with exhaust fumes entering the car via the heater?
It only shows it's self when stationary ie: at traffic lights etc, at first we thought it was other cars but have noticed it when we are on our own, the smell will go if you turn the heaters off? help!:-(

Possible slightly block cats which forces gases out of the joint by the turbo, and then entering the car, or a blowing injector give smells inot the car have a look under the bonnet and get someont to rev it. look out for soot traces aswell

Might be something to do with the heater booster, rather than the engine exhaust.

Check under the bonnet that the 'sprung clamp' that holds/seals the exhaust downpipe to turbo is still in place....mine had dropped off which allowed exhaust fumes to expel under the bonnet and be drawn into the passenger cabin.

Thanks! will have a look, there's no obvious signs of the exhaust leaking ie: excessive noise.

Hope its not the head

I had a similar thing with my ML 270 a few years back. I changed the injector, but it was just the same. After a specialist looked at it he thought it was the injector sleeves. When he took the injector out water followed and he found the head had cracked. Initially got a head on exchange from heathrow engine/ Rivermead engineering, but they sent the wrong one and almost tucked me up for 1600 quid so stay clear of them if you need one. In the end I used a local compant (Swansea Auto) and they supplied and built up a brand new head. Whole job was about 2.5 grand. Hope its not the head!!
