HI All,
I'm new here, I'm a long time owner of an R320 and a recent owner of an Ml270 manual 2001.
The ML is great but I've noticed what I think is a "tight" rear diff. It feels as though it is locked in that it feels as though it's pushing me straight on on the road and I get tyre squeal going round sharp corners.
Also, rea tyres look out of shape when parking after a turn going forwards. Reversing seems to correct it.
No noise from the diff and nothing else untoward going on.

Any ideas?
Thank you,
Steve

Is it not the same issue the GLC 4 matic has called " crabbing "

In fact most 4 matics suffer it !!

I would think a quick check by an MB specialist would tell if all was well ?

Normally when it's parked after not turning, the tyres sit straight on the rims, as they should. When it's parked after turning, one side flexes out at the bottom as if the wheel is pushing laterally against the tyre, like it would if the diff was locked.

I want to avoid that if possible but will if necessary. I will jack both wheels of the ground and see how it looks first but the very first step was to ask the experts here :)

Could it be a tracking or alignment issue ?
There aren’t many people now with the older ML’s

Thanks for the reply - crabbing to me is more of a sideways / forward movement. This is not really that, it tracks perfectly straight in normal driving and it is very different to other 4matics including my R320 (I don't think this is a 4matic, it is too old for that :))

I did think it was tracking or alignment to start with but it does feel more mechanical than that
