I bought a nearly new C-Class and was told that, as long as I kept the car serviced at a Mercedes garage, I would be covered. It was described as RAC for Mercedes owners. Based on this information I cancelled my RAC membership. Recently my wife was traveling with our children aged 1 and 3 when she got a flat tyre. This was quite late at night on a major road. When I eventually got through to Mobilo Life they said I wasn't covered as the car was over 2 years old. They refused to help and the customer service was dreadful. If anyone is relying on Mobilo Life DONT. Useless from start to finish. Luckily I rejoined the RAC and they provided their usual excellent service. Don't want anyone else to get caught like I was.

I've never been very impressed by any other so called recovery service - I've always found AA or RAC to be the only ones that deliver!

Must admit I've always kept my RAC cover running alongside any other entitlement I had to MobiloLife as I didn't feel comfortable relying just on that.

In it's defense I have to say MobiloLife did come out to me (at home) when I had problems with my C-class head gasket (when it was approx 2 years old) and the service was great, couldn't do enough for me. Even gave me a similar replacement car C180K for a week while my car was in the garage being repaired.

That's just terrible - minor mishap (like wheel changes) is allegedly supposed to be covered on UK cars for 3yrs but the call centre people frequently deny this. In any event, they should have offered to come out on a chargeable basis.

I now have RAC running alongside Mobilo Life as my C Class is nearly 4 years old.

The only time I needed I needed Mobilo was for a puncture (car was about 3 years and 2 months old then) as I was stranded in the middle of London, peeing down with rain and was told that I wasn't covered. The actual excuse I was given was that the tyre (a pirelli) wasn't a Merc part!!!

I was offered a chargeable call out but found a Kwik Fit about a mile away.

From that day on, it was RAC for me again.

It is worth looking at switching to one of the "pay & refund" services. I've used GEM for a couple of years and the service is the same as I had from Green Flag but much cheaper. I think it's £75 a year for two of us with two cars.

Difference is that you pay on the spot, then reclaim the money from them afterwards.

So long as you always carry a credit card, they're a good option.

It took a good ten minutes before he offered and the price? - £180. Was cheaper to join RAC for a year and have a call out at £164.
