Hi all,

It's me again after more help in equiping our 1982 Merc 380SE for a run to the Gambia.

We've been advised by the challenge veterans that it's basically best to get another car the same as ours and strip everything from under the bonnet and zip tie it to it's counterpart under our bonnet.

I won a merc dvd on ebay but can't get it to work. Our local garage printed out the spec of the 380 from their pc detailing part numbers etc.

Can you advise us on which cars use the same parts as ours as we can't find a junked 380SE?

We're in Thatcham, England.

We're looking for freebies like coils, starters, fuel pump, pipes n hoses etc.

Sorry to sound like a beggar but it's for a good cause.

Regards

hmmm - anything engine related is the same for any 380 engines car - so sl380 / slc380 (if such a beastie existed - im not sure)

brakes and so on are quite swappable - but they shouldnt go wrong...

chage ALL the fluids - inc diff oil (probably never done)

cover the exhaust / make more supports for it

cover driveshafts

make skids for anything sticking out

keep an eye on ebay - 380se's come up once in a while... as do many V8 126 / 116's - things like coils are fairly interchangeable.

good luck...

Im doing the home2rome run (100 quid car - here to rome in a vauxhall carlton GSi3000)
