My C class 1 year anniversary

Is today. We've averaged 42.3mpg indicated so around 39mpg to 40mpg more than likely.

We've had no breakdowns, 1 service and some new discs and pads. Bar bulbs going its been a faultless car to own and utterly dependable.

I like having an estate and it swallows all my camping guff, being small it's a fun drive on rural roads but on long motorway journeys and A roads it's not a particularly comfortable car.

It's replacement isn't coming anytime soon. Such faultless reliability (to be expected with a 204 with 5g and an OM646 engine) means it sticks around for a long time and delivers me great tours like its done so well this year.

Well its 13 months since I bought my Passat 4motion and like you I've had no breakdowns .... but two services!

It uses no oil between services, has averaged 48.7 mpg since she arrived and that has included over a 1000 miles towing a trailer with a W124 on the back (that's how I collect them) and it has had one set of tyres at 50k - she just went over 72k today!

I have had 2 VW's and had no problems whatsoever with either..
1 was a mk IV Golf the other was a mk V
The mk IV I owned for nearly 3 years..The other 2 years.

I've thought how an A4 Quattro TDi would be ideal with winter tyres getting to far flung remote places in winter.

A4 Quattro, 3.0TDi would cover a lot of bases and with winter tyres unstoppable up here when the tough gets going

The 4motion and Quattro systems are not capable of breaking the laws of physics ...

I just fancy one, don't know why, Audi is the only posh german car I've not had. I heard the V6 TDi engine is very good and the 4wd system ideal for the snow

I've had winter tyres on the C class, and it was managable, but not transformed. I hit a small patch of ice and the back went a bit, now had all 4 wheels were driven, it would have pulled straight a little sooner.

Not disatrous, but nice to have, and maybe an allroad one for a bit more ground clearance, nice to have when you have to park off the road.

What am I saying, maybe my needs and wants of a car are changing to ones that are less sporting and more practical.

Help, get the meds!!!!
