Need help ml270dcdi knocking noise

My ml has a knocking noise which seems to be coming from underneath. The noise seems to be located under the passenger seat were the transfer box is located.the noise seems to dissapear when you turn left but gets louder when you turn right or brake. If any one has encountered the same problem i would be grateful for some help with locating the faulty part

sometimes the the torsion bars can make noise, ive come across this before

Steering idler bush is worth a look - located just forward of the passenger footwell in a right hand drive car - could easily give noises from the place you have localised it to.

think that was on cars with a steering box, dont think the ml has this idler bush
