Still feeling like i need to see it in the metallic flesh but it looks so nice in the colour on the cover!

Definately on the wish list.

I see they're testing a convertible E-class and will be axing the CLK. I think that it will leave a hole in the range as the CLK was based on the C-class, unless they've got that angle covered with a convertible C-class to go with the saloon and coupe.

True, but the CLK was priced much more in line with the 211 E class than the 203 C class. Its engine range also mirrored the 211 bar the 55k (they never made a CLK 180k and they never made a C500), not the 203's engine range. The interior fittings were of a 211 quality, not a 203's.

The basic architecture is 203 for the 209 buts its priced, marketed, equipped both interior wise and engine wise like an E class.

The 203 had 2 coupe ofshoots, CLK and C class coupe (now CLC). The 211 didn't so this move gives every saloon a coupe car...

I think it looks good and if it's as reliable as the new C Class, it will be some car.:D

New 204 C class hasn't been out enough time to really assess its reliabilty. Early signs are promising though. Its just the materials (i.e. the dashboard plastics) that let the side down for the 204 (as it does for the 164 ML)

It is really a bit of a con. The Press say the new CLK will be based on the C class -just called E coupe etc.

Shame. The old E class convertible was a good seller and a classic now. And offered just that extra space that the longer -legged like.
