New Member - Fife Scotland - W124 300ce

Hi Guys,

I currently own a 2003 320cdi estate and having previously had a 1972 250CE coupe and regretting selling the car when I was broke - have recently purchased a 1990 300ce to make up for my miss givings.

I have few mechanical skills and whilst keen to learn woundered if there were any fanatics in fife who would be keen to help with my development project in return for cash and beer?!

Additionally I need some help with the following:

1. Clubs / forums to join
What are the best clubs / forums to join? what about regualr magazines?

2. Seats
The seats in the car are knackered. Is it easy to replce from seats from another W124 coupe or are there things I need to consider?

3. Rear Electric blind
It only goes up via the motor and wont come down. How can I get access to it via the rear shelf and are these thigns easy repairs?

4. Brakes
The car hasnt been driven for about 5 years. Is it easy to replace all disks and pads as a DIY job and what should I bear in mind?

5. Shockers
As above, they are rubbish. What are the best options?

You have just joined the best forum, and you could join the club and get the magazine

Many by the seats and sometimes door panels, and they are easy to fit, all of the help is here to hand

This is a hard question,, I would always find a quiet road and do plenty of very hard stops, they need to be hard to clean up the rear disc, if they clean up, then fine, just the thickness of the pads to look at. I would change the fluid

As above, they are rubbish. What are the best options?
The GSF shoicks get very good reports and do not cost much but transform the car

Welcome Scott,
I would have taken you up on the offer of free beer for helping on the project.
It's just a little bit far for me.
The disadvantage of being in the other hemisphere, hehe.
Would love to see some pics of the CE as it stands now. It's without a doubt going to be my next MB purchase.
