That's a lovely thing...one of the few that could tempt me out of mine.

I just find the 215 is a better car all round , the 216 is handsome , beautiful interior but for me I never really enjoyed the ownership experience , searing straight line speed is great but it never inspired confidence on any other road , 215 would outrun it easily on a decent B road blat pal , the 216 makes a statement , the 215 feels special , I think the only thing I miss about the 216 is the 7G box , if the 215 had that it would be brilliant

CL500 09/09 (2010 my M273 Engine) Now completed 40K Palladium/Black
20151202_160325.jpg After months of searching I purchased a W216 Coupe and learned of the relevant changes over the period 2007 to 2014.

I wanted the naturally aspirated engine and the updates of the 2010 model year plus the AMG style sills and rear end etc.

Fortunately I came across a one owner car at MB Plymouth which suited my budget and had the advantage of being Palladium Silver which was not released on these cars until 2010. It had 26k miles at the time and now has 38k miles.

Keeping it in a garage makes the world of difference and the only problem I have had was to replace the Harmon Cardon Amplifier which was very simple but the MB supplied item was £1100 plus.

I have not for one moment thought about replacing the car, why would I ???

I hope you enjoy the car as much as I and if not abused and serviced correctly should last you many years.

I imagine few members here have experienced driving or even looking round properly at the aesthetics and over engineering of parts etc., for a Mercedes "S" class. For 3 star money on a well used one you get "5" star interiors and driving experience.

I keep a spreadsheet schedule of average monthly upkeep cost from when I purchased the car in November 2015, ignoring Insurance, RFL and Fuel. I have included Depreciation (£24,000 cost Value £13,000 today), Annual Main Dealer Services and other Maintenance over the period of 57 months and it comes out at an average of £245.

Very cost effective for this quality of vehicle. (Photos attached)

Good luck 20151208_122839.jpg 20151208_123218.jpg 20151208_122839.jpg 20151208_123218.jpg 20151208_122839.jpg 20151208_123218.jpg 20151208_122839.jpg 20151208_123218.jpg

PS: I see Submariner 1 is back and look forward to seeing his detailed posts and photographs in the future.

Don't you think though that despite the undoubted quality the W216 CL looks a bit boring too understated?

No offence meant to W216 owners!

I agree it is understated but funnily enough friends or individuals who see it for the first time are fascinated when all of the windows make it pillarless and hear the V8 engine note.

They also assume it is a one year old car due to the modern design, quality and colour of paintwork.

It helps with the uncluttered interior being as new.
