Hello everybody. Just thought I would log in tio introduce myself and to apologise in advance for any stupid questions I may ask over the next few years!! Recently took delivery of a C270 estate and have now started to get used to it and enjoying. Have given up watching the onboard computer telling me how economically I was driving and have decided to experiment a bit with my right foot and let the fuel sort itself out. a lovely powerfull diesel engine.Looks like I may be forever skint!!

Once you have had it a few weeks the fuel should start to go up again...

40mpg on a run should be possible...you should worry mine's a beer monster (or rather fuel monster) it loves the stuff.

enjoy it. Mine once managed 48 though it was a very boring drive. 38-43 on a run and 26-33 round town are quite normal. Yours is lighter so should better that.

Welcome aboard Almost Grown Up. Are you going to change your moniker once to achieve senior member staus?

As for the fuel issue, put your foot down and compare it to the petrol equivalent and then decide where to spend the money you have saved. Also, if you drop thje average figure now, it can only go up later.

Thanks for the welcome guys. I do intend to enjoy it - the mid range power is very impresive and very , very tempting. I am currently averaging 36 on mixed driving now that I have abandoned the onboard computer thingy which is not bad . My other car is a 2.5 V6 petrol MGZT190 so 36 is luxury ! I am looking forward to a long and happy association with my C270 and with a bit of luck never growing up !!
