Hi all my name is Ric and I stay in Scotland.

I have recently took a fancy to a merc 280 sport auto. The one I have me eye on is a P reg with 92000 on the clock, dark charcoal in colour with 17" amg alloys and black leather which looks like it hasn't even been sat in. There is slight bubbling around the rear boot lock and a few stone chips but other than that it is mint. Its up for £3995. I have a V reg Vectra Sri140 currently that is pretty much mint with 65k on the clock and the garage wants that and £1200, does this seem a fair price. What faults should I be looking out for on one of these. With 92k on the clock is it likely to last me 3 or 4 years as I only do 10k a year max.

Any help or info on this model and the deal I am being offered is much appreciated.

Thanks

sticking to the same topic. Has anyone tried the RAC examination when buying a car ? is it worth it ?!

Have you thought of going for RAC car examination Ric ?!? As car garages don't really stick to words. I bought a car once and weekend after buying it, took the car to Kwik Fit to do their check and service and was told that car had broken anti roll bar, emission test was bad, so basically it wont pass MOT which was due after 8 months. When I went back to the garage in glasgow, the garage guy who was very nice to me when i was buying the car was so rude that you would not believe its the same guy and told me that in UK when you buy car its yours the time you drive it out of garage and even though its only 4 days, he cannot do anything. However, he was nice enough to offer to buy the car from me for £2000 less then what I paid him :(

Not true. A dealer HAS to give you a 3 month warranty. Its the law. Simple as that. Trading standards take great pleasure in taking people like your dealer to court.

On the deal - the price isn't anything great, just the normal price from what I can see. The mileage is fine, just get the normal stuff and transmission fluid changed.
