New Radiator?

Hi, I had a bit of a minor "bump" last night in my W203, resulting in a short excursion over a grass verge. Thought no more of it until this morning when I noticed the "check coolant level" light on the cluster was illuminated. So after topping it up at the local filling station and seeing that coolant was indeed leaking from underneath, I contacted my local indie. Apparently I have cracked the plastic boss holding the drain plug at the base of the radiator and it will necessitate an entire radiator replacement

Is it not possible to repair this on the rad? or even just replace that part of the assembly?

nice 201 2.5D 1993 & very nice 129 SL500 1994
The plastic Header tanks are made of a material to which no readily available adhesives and sealants will stick, so its a new rad Im sorry to say. Better a reliable new rad than a costly engine rebuild due to sudden total coolant loss. Try euro parts and gsf for a chaeper price than MB.

GSF and Euro only do the 202 and 210 rads, a pity at £80 for those

Hi,
its a CDI 220 estate - the irrepairable plastic comment is exactly what my local indie said - just seems remarkably fragile around the front end?

It really pees you off when the repair cost is somewhat akin to your insurance excess

Maybe it would do no harm to ask a bumper repair guy if it can be welded its ABS the same as a bumper

While you are looking in Yellow Pages Look for a firm Called SERCK's Radiator Repairers, and give them a call I'm sure that they would be able to repair or sell you a recon unit, they have depots all over the U K.
