My girlfriend has a 1988 190E 2.3L. Over the past 2 months, the (plastic) thermostat housing cover has been replaced twice already, and is about to be replaced again.
The first time, it broke where the inlet from the upper radiator hose meets the rest of the housing. The second time, it cracked across the top (probably my fault from possibly over-torquing it on). This time, same as the first time...inlet broke off from the rest of the housing.
Could there be something else going on that's causing this? Or is it just due to the fact that the housing cover is plastic? She's got another one on order, but the parts shop managed to find a metal one this time (in all honesty, I think it should've came that way from the factory...).
Thanks in advance.
