Hi, I have 2019 a c43 convertible. Yesterday my roof stopped working properly. On closer inspection the nylon cords have frayed and ripped out of the guides. Googled said problem and it seems to be a common fault and a lot of people saying it's a design fault. I have extended mercedes warrenty, so rung them and straight away said it isn't covered and need to go back to mercedes where I purchased car only to told by them that if warrenty had said they won't cover it nor would they but might be able to get something out of them as good will gesture. I don't think this is right, I think this should be done under warrenty especially as mecedes now sell roof cord upgrade so they must realise there is a fault in this design. Just wondered what are your thoughts and has anyone he'd this issue and mercedes did correct under warrenty. Cheers

Ironically I’ve just received my Approved Used Warranty booklet today.

I’ve copied the ‘what is covered’ and ‘what is not covered’ pages see below

It specifically mentions sunroof and convertible cables in the ‘not covered’ bullet points in the right hand column so if MB are offering a contribution I would take it or seek a recommended third party to do the work

Welcome.
I would go with Malcom’s suggestion, even though I sympathise and agree that such parts shouldn’t be failing so quickly. Sadly, people don’t kick off at such shoddy modern build issues as its costly and stressful.

I just feel like I'm being screwed over. You spend good money on a car which should of had pre sale check and I'm sure this must if been present when I bought car as I've only had it 7 months. I'm trying trading standards at present as they seem to think I have a case but we will see....

Good luck with it as you say not fit for purpose emphasised by the fact that your car is only 5 years old
