Do not know if it is repairable depends on the noise, bearing,clutch or pump.
One thing you must not do is to take it off without a remedy. If the system is opened up the evaporator must be sealed otherwise you will end up adding £1.000 to the bill as it not always possible to dry them out.
Go to an air con specialist they will tell you what to do. And Yes you can get reconditioned pumps.
