my slk 230 1999 model sstarted being very noisy today missing and noisy cammy sound any ideas please

Hi john and welcome was this from cold or when hot, is it there all of the time

from cold it sounds very tappety and lacks power smell of unburnt fuel and some white smoke

sorry yes it seeems to be have only driven it a couple of miles and cam baack it is the wifes car and she said it was a bit stuttery the day before but it wenmt ok but she used it today and it didnt improve
