Hello,

Ok, i've had my 190e 2.0L (1991) for a couple of months now and recently completed 1200 miles in less than two days, and so seemed a sound purchase. However, the other day whilst driving along, the accelerator peddle appeared to lose some resistance and with minimal pressure/travel the revs climb very steeply quite quickly.

I've had a look and as far as i can see there is an arm on the throttle body with a ball joint on the end of it with nothing attached, but looks like there should be.?

I've tried to remove the air cleaner assembly (for a better view) but it appears to require considerable force to detach it from the rubber seal around the air port.

Any help would be great!! Cheeeers

Completely agree with Malcolm, from the symptoms you describe and if a spring is missing the jetronic system would over rev very easily.

The spring which is broken is difficult to see and is under the inlet manifold! Mine was broken too and made the throttle behave very strangely. A different car when fixed. Use a mirror to see it.... it is beneath the throttle body I think if that's the correct term!
