oil change caused rattle top end

just done a second oil and filter change since engine rebuild, first oil and filter change after 1,000 miles at no higher then 3,000 r p m all ok, second oil and filter change after 2,500 miles still no higher then say 4,000 r p m, but when you start her now after she`s been sat overnight , for the first second or 2 you get a rattle top end, oil thats been recommened is 10w 40 and thats the one im useing, oil pump was a recon, strange thing is when first started after rebuild and so on for first 1,000 miles no problem, since second change the rattle ? same grade of oil same, same make of filter, has anyone got any thoughts on this as im a bit concerned

what engine and car? sounds like hydraulic lifters, where they replaced ?

hi jib,thanks for replying so soon, sorry its an e280 1993 24v w124, and no the lifters wore not replaced, but what i can,t under stand she,s been fine since the second oil change

Is the oil filter a good one? Critical it has a non return valve in it, or it will be slow to pump oil on start up.
