Perform Service On Time. That normally comes up when the oil is old and the level is OK.

This means you hav'nt left the engine off for long enough for the oil to settle. I see you're on-line now. Go & put your ignition on - don't start & see if you now get a reading.

Did you reset the ASSYST system when you changed the oil?

The ASSYST system is the system the car uses to decide on when to service the car. On yours (assuming it s a 210 E class) it chooses between A & B depending upon how you drive and how long/miles since the last service.
Since you have just changed the oil what is your ASSYST system saying about miles/days to next service?

Hi, just checked and ASSYST reads A service in 4800 miles. I am happy with this as I do not hold with these long intervals between oil changes. I have had a Volvo 940 tdi estate for 12 years and still goes fine. I put the some 400,000 miles down to plenty of clean oil and filters often. regards AA

While i dont for a second know you oil change policy, i fear the last thing i have to worry about is how long my 300td engine will last. I think i could run it with olive oil and it would out live the rest of the car!!
