Oil Dipstick SL55 AMG 2004

Hello, I have gone to check the oil on my SL55 AMG 2004 but there is no dipstick ? Just a red cap ?

You should be able to check the level on the dash display, do you have a handbook? There will be a red cap on the gearbox too, you can make or buy a dipstick, l bought one from Ebay that works okay after a little tweak.

you can buy factory the measuring stick. Its like a dipstick (but only in and out to measure). Calibrated, but you need to
know the measurements for your model.

The red cap is for the ATF not the engine oil

The oil is measured electronically through the dash cluster on a 55K Engine, though it can be measured with a dipstick MB wont sell you one workshop item only and it is a generic item and has to be removed and cap replaced once used.
The tube with a black cap with a red locking tab is for the GB Oil, the red cap shaped with a finger hold is the engine oil, I have had my CLS55 since 2015ish never felt the need to use a dipstick I have just relied on the electronic oil level in the dash.

This is the one I was thinking of, been a while since I have seen it as one of the bolt on engine covers needs removing for access. The world's shortest dipstick, l was most disappointed upon removal!!

No to the whiskeys..( unfortunately) spent some time in Liberia, white man's graveyard, and true to form, got a bad ( as in very bad,life threatening)case of food poisoning, so now the price I pay is no alcohol.

Get one from any m113 engine at a scrap yard. They don't all not have one...mine has one.
