Under bonnet, looking straight at engine then it is at the right hand side top near windscreen wiper. It is a black plastic looking thing with a large plastic nut on the top. The filter is inside.
Location as dougjoy says, you may need tool to remove (I prefer nylon strap type). Replace by hand only, seal is effected by large O seal, usually supplied with new filter element. No need to heave up tight as there is a lip on the plastic cap.
Haynes don't (the last time I looked anyway) do a manual for this model. Since the diesel engine (although 1 cylinder less - non CDI engine only) and most/some of the drive gear is the same as the W202 C Class, you can by their C Class manual as a general guide.
