Hi

Hope all is well,

W123 200 1979 M115

Ok getting an oil leak from the distributor housing/bracket/shaft… oil spirting out of the base. I thought it was the o ring on the distributor but it doesnt leak from its clamp/shaft. (See picture green ticks)
Thinking pressure build up in crankcase I checked the breather hose and looks ok not pulled out the flame guard element. Worth doing a compression test? Car runs fine but hardly use it

Mmm any ideas?

Picture of where it’s leaking?

Ok checked breather hose all looked ok cleaned out anyway, cleaned the inside of air filter (round cup kind of thing) had a bit of crud in it.

Crankcase
pressure wud be my first suspect
After cleaning no oil was spitting out, but could hear a hissing sound every so often around the dizzy/fuel pump area…
Also have a slight miss every so often

Breather hose has a slight crack but shouldn’t affect the slight miss should it? Planning to do a vacuum test and re tune after

Ok compression test done

1 145
2 150
3 142
4 145

Mmmm 2/3 concern? It’s within boundaries

Pic of sparks attached

Used talcum powder only leak I’ve found is from the distributor shaft where it meets engine block. So it’s leaking in the same place.

Mechanical fuel pump is under a year old but that shouldn’t cause an issue? Checked leads and from ignition coil was a bit rusty so sanded it down.

Breather pipes all clear now so wonder where excess pressure is causing oil to come up the shaft. Dipstick normal also…

Next process vacuum test and check HT leads for resistance. While at it will double check dwell, idle rpm and carb.
