I was driving an e200 (1998 model) on a high way when all off a sudden it begun to smoke. I stopped and noticed that the oil was leaking from below and had gone into the exhaust. I never experienced this problem before and i do not know what to do as the engine has power but the car can not move although the gear can change it can not move it had to be towed. what is the problem?

Hi.

I think a few more specifics are needed here.

(1) Can you determine whether it's tranny oil or engine oil? (Sounds like ATF to me).
(2) Is it going INTO or ONTO the exhaust and causing the smoke?
(3) I assume when you say 'the gear can change' you mean simply that the gear lever can move?

From your initial post it sounds to me you have sprung a serious leak from your gearbox hence lack of drive, and it has sprayed all over the cat./exhaust causing the smoke.

Hope it's not too serious.

mmmm... sounds more like ATF than engine oil. Unless you have a hole in the side of the box, it is probably something with the pipework that feeds the ATF from the box to the rad for cooling.

Dip the car for ATF (if you can). Don't drive it at all
