Is it possible to calibrate the C180K (03 coupe) engine oil level measuring system.
I have just fitted a dipstick whch indicates a level mid way between max and min.
However the instrumentation is indicating oil level too high.
I suspect that the sensor is either fauly or requires calibration.

Yep, am sure about that, but not sure at all about the accuracy of the instrumentation. I think they (MB) were trying to be too clever when they came up with this gem.

Agreed! I'd much prefer to trust a dipstick (ha ha) that electrickery level sensors. Sensors are OK as a back up, but not in isolation.

Are you sure you have the correct dipstick? One that is too short will cause this problem! Other than that, the oil sensor is faulty, had a CLK 320 that showed oil level too high constantly.

The electronic "add oil / Remove oil" is totally CR*P..
My car holds 6.5 litres and when I came to drain the oil for its service, only 5 litres came out!!
I had NO WARNING of any sort..
It cannot be good practice for it to be 1.5 litres low and not utter a warning..
