Had my W202 C180 serviced in Mid August 2006. It's done less than 4K miles since then.
Planning to take it for a 500 mile round trip (about 250 miles each way).
Don't do these trips often and haven't done one in the C class.
Just wondering if I need to change the engine oil.
I haven't checked it yet (not going till weekend), but if it is low should I just top it up or go for a change?

Also I know this is car-driving 101 but have I missed out on anything below?

Check:
tyre pressure
wiper fluid level
brake fluid level?
coolant

I don't normally fret like this before going on a trip, but it's the Mrs driving and she's going alone.

Good morning Benzo, the oil is ok for at least 12months so dont worry, just to add to your list, check all of the lights.

In this weather screen wash and new wipers is one of the most important.
I would have thought that with the regular oil and tyre checks you are no doubt undertaking as part of the regular owners maintenance program then the car should be ready to go right now.

Thanks guys for the quick replies!

I must admit I haven't been as conscientious with checks on the C since I bought the E (Though it's serviced religiously in accordance to Assyst). Reason being I hardly drive it- the Mrs does and I only check it out when she complains about something (which is very rare on that car). Last checked tyres and oil before winter. Got new wiper blade in December so she should be good to go.

Just worrying because she has not driven this kind of distance before (and going alone to boot).
