My views after test drives coming next week
It will be interesting, the 350CDI should feel very similar to you r 320CDI as the performance is the same. It will depend on the specification as to how the ride is in comparison because if it comes on 18" wheels and sports suspension I expect you will find it more BM like than you C.
Is not the new 250CDI the one with comparable performance to the old 320CDI? (204 bhp, 500 NMs).
Figures from the MB UK website.
E 250 CDI BlueEFFICIENCY[2], Engine Capacity (cc) 2,143
Arrangement / cylinders / valves Inline / 4 / 16 V
Power (hp at rpm) [5] 204 / 4,200
Torque (Nm at rpm) [6] 500 / 1,600 - 1,800
hi st4. What is OP?The OP?..... more powerful than the Jag XFs and in a significantly lighter car. However the C207 has more big car attributes than the E90 3 series but the E90 is a good quality car nonetheless. Powerwise a 330d would be more appropriate. Friend of a friend has a E90 330d and it throws you into the back of the seat big time.
hi st4. What is OP?
335d more powerful than XF? 330d = 286HP, XFd = 240PS, but XFdS (tested) = 275PS so the S close enough - but agree with the size comment
C207 big car attributes? agree. Personally hoping not as much as a "E207"
330d more appropriate? 330d < 320cdi < 335d imho (all of them powerful)
No, whilst the E350CDI has a higher HP and NM it only has the same 0-60 as the current e320CDI. The 250CDI is 20HP and 40NM down on the 320CDI, I don't have the 0-60 figure. The 250 is also missing a couple of cylindersIs not the new 250CDI the one with comparable performance to the old 320CDI? (204 bhp, 500 NMs).

Hi Alex, Sorry I didn't realise you meant the IL6 E320CDI, yes that performance looks very similar to the new E250CDI, (still missing 2 cylinders though...). Blassberg's C320CDI is a V6 though so of the newer but still old now E320CDI IYKWIM. The IL6 E320CDI was only fitted to the E Class and S Class IIRC as it wouldn't fit in the C or the ML.I believe we both know what we are talking about - but we are talking about different iterations of the 320CDI. I mentioned the older version:
"Is not the new 250CDI the one with comparable performance to the old 320CDI? (204 bhp, 500 NMs)" - as would be found in my W220 of 2004, and possibly the OP's C Class ("Old C320cdi vs Jag XFdS vs BMW335d vs E350cdi Coupe") - as in the title of the thread.
I appreciate that the new engine has 4 cylinders, not 6, but the power outputs equal those of the old 320CDI, so performance can't be that shoddy (lighter engine, less frictional loss/inertia).
Correct Blobcat. Sorry Alex, by old I meant W203 rather than W204.Blassberg's C320CDI is a V6 though so of the newer but still old now E320CDI IYKWIM. The IL6 E320CDI was only fitted to the E Class and S Class IIRC as it wouldn't fit in the C or the ML.
