I went out for some milk, and parked up,,just getting back into the car and bang, a lady revering into a 25ft gap reversed into me.

She gets out and says,,oh its only the number plate and you can sellotape that back on. And the number plate holder I asked and the back plate and the number plate.

When I get back home and take it all off I see that the paint is quite badly scratched, and the top coat removed

So now the £60 for the holder, £60 for the back plate, £20 for the number plate and now a bumper off and respray it looks very expensive

With Malcolm's track record, he probably asked her out. Am I right? :D

I went to see SAM at MBS yesterday for the day and I thought that I would wash it when i got back, after buying the milk. I have no interest now in washing it :(

My she has some poor driving skills.
Send her the bill Malc, I think you've suffered enough problems with the SL. :)

I do feel mean on saying that the bumper will have to come off and be resprayed, but it was perfect before and now has some 5 bad marks on the paint, this now runs into something like £450 to £550 so much work in taking it off with the washers and parking sensors that must not get painted

sorry about your car Malcolm - on a lighter note however, it does rather look as though the Citroen came off better - makes you think eh?

She was at an angle of about 30º when she hit it, and it was the black reversing lamp that hit mine,,had she hit it fair and square then the damage would have been minimal

I can see how she would have trouble parking a C1 due to poor visibility & the huge rear overhang  maybe a bifocal rear screens the answer

The sadness

is compounded by the fact that we are all equal in the eyes of the law.

This lady should not be allowed out unsupervised. And I would argue that point on a) her competence and b) her attitude.

Now that one can shop on line and have things delivered, there is surely less case for preserving the driving privileges of such people on the general argument that "they need to drive to get about"!

I also suspect that she drives sufficiently few miles that the regular use of taxis would be cheaper for her and safer for us - in addition to relieving congestion and removing abandoned cars from somewhere near the kerb.
