Hi all, I'm a newbie and am thinking on getting a 320 CLK coupe. They look the dogs danglies.

But budget restrictions mean I am looking at pre 99

All the ones I've seen naturally have high mileages, so my 3 questions are :-

1) 100k+ miles - can a big merc take that and still be enjoyable to drive? I realise FSH is a must.

2) Also - does the cabin suffer for that mileage? ie is it going to feel like an old bone shaker? Squeaks, rattles, or any common faults?

3) Anything else I should know about this model (I like the Elegance)?

I'm sure if I did a search I would find this out but just thought I'd ask.

Thanks very much,
Mike

Hi Mike,

Welcome to the forum.
High Mileage with servicing is better than low mileage and few services
Fabrics & Leathers can handle the miles, it is more a question of how they were treated, check any possible purchase carefully
You should not have any squeaks or rattles
As per your post, check the forum and do your homework the more you know the more of an informed decision you can make when it comes to handing over the folding
Good luck

That's good to know but just how many miles can you expect from a 320 Merc? Is 200k out of reach?

And will it fit in my garage?

Have you seen my garage? :(

By the way I had a Blackbird (140 easy) until I got the old 'Sorry mate - didn't see ya!'. Ouch!

200k should be no problem with a non thrashed car, not that many people do thrash them, maybe a timming cahain at 150k.
Will it fit your garage ? depends on how fast you enter it.

140mph or 140K miles? if only 140mph then try changing out of 3rd. 140K miles, now that's not bad
