hi all,got a 98 202 with the om 605 engine.over the last 2 weeks ive noticed a lack of power.started to think it was dodgy diesel but on use decent stuff.i think i might be lacking boost pressure.i put a turbo on it last year,so ruling that out.with the engine running if i pull the rubber hose off the wastegate it moves and back again when reconnected.ive read in places about rubber pipes deteriorating.is there any usual places?also boost solenoids and map sensor issues?is there any way of checking these sensors?

Common issue, easy fix usually.
Places to look...
Blocked Cat- this happened to mine, made it incredibly slow. Try removing the V band clamp in the engine bay on the turbo, pull the exhaust pipe off its V band flange and to the side a bit and take it for a spin to see if that sorts it. If so, cut cat out of exhaust and fit dummy cat.
Perished intake pipes, especially the last 3 sections of rubber pipe before the inlet manifold. You may not be able to find an obvious split but the tell tale is oil and generally oiliness in the engine bay- because the crankcase breather recirculates through the turbo, and boost leak will show as an oil leak from the pipes. Really expensive from Merc- I replaced mine with universal bits of silicone and alu off ebay and it's worked well and looks nice. I've personally never seen boost leaks from anywhere else but potentially the intercooler could leak or the elbow pipes leading to and from it.
Worth checking all the vac pipes from the brake booster to the EGR solenoid etc. Sounds like your wastegate actuator is working as you say its moving under vacuum.
