Om651 not starting

Think your right mrmb. thinking that it would be chancy if it done a regen while in limp mode as somebody else said or i read it on the forum here somewhere. i might try the moly liquid first or whatever similar i can get my hands on if it doesnt do a regen. If that doesnt work doubt its DPF off time. whats the best way to clean them out manually? power hose? or knock a hole through it lol

My bet is that you will have to delete the fault codes and the reset the adaptation values for the DPF system,, it will clear the fill level and ash content etc. Then you start the car, see if there are no fault codes and eventually drive it a short distance to see if any fault codes will come back. If not, you will do a force regen during drive and happy days. Hopefully it will help ;-)

Hopefully i can reset adaptation levels with this new diagnostic kit mrmb. Might need your advice on exactly how to do that. I see you have to do a force regen while driving. Just thought maybe you could do it in yard with this new kit?

From what I know on newer OM651 you cannot do a force regen while car is stationary and it needs to be done on the move. Even Vediamo doesn't have this option for some engines, I know they have starting removing this feature from SD. I don't know if you will be able to reset the adaptation values not using SD. Maybe you will, have a look around on your diagnostic if it will not be there then ask somebody on the forum that has iCarsoft maybe this device will be able to do that for you.

I didnt go for the carsoft upgrade as i asked icarsoft themselves if their mb v2 tool will do a regen on my vito and they said no. My icarsoft i980 is a read only device but is good enough for basic diagnostic work. I cant remember what software is on the new device but remember something called Wow v2 iirc if that rings a bell. From what year on do you call the newer om651 mrmb?

If I am not wrong you can do a force regen without driving if engine control unit is CDID2 if it is newer like CDID3 then it is only available during drive.

Vito is officially back on the road again. typed in the new injector codes this morn and done a dpf regen after that, Dpf is now at 24% compared to 240%. Really impressed with the wurth wow software on the laptop, Just tapped the start button and regen done its thing and no issues with the soot level so high in the DPF and van in limp mode. couple of other minor issues to iron out but thanks to everyone who helped me on this.

120 mile rtrip averaged around 37MPG. Is this decent mileage for an OM651?
