OM651, Water within the Intercooler

I've started a new thread as the previous
perhaps became a bit long winded.

I'm in a busy time with business pressures so haven't had real opportunity to return to this. So the Viano sits waiting, in bits.

Anyone any thoughts as to how water can find its way to within the intercooler and settle (overnight) to emit white sweet smoke on start up?
