Evening all,

Well after a nightmare with an Renault Espace my wife decided that a Mercedes V class was the people carrier for her. Yes I agreed and we bought a very nice example. Three years old and only 22,000 on the clock.

It's been one thing after another.......short in the wiring.........fuel injector..........Auto Box Fluid lost it's guts and caused gearbox problems.....sopwith camel from behind the dashboard on recycling........the coolant hose came off after the dealer had changed the coolant....................and now the water pump has gone!
All this in six months, moblio-life has been great as has the stellaship in Milton Keynes, but boy the wallet has taken a battering! :(

It's currently in the dealer again having the waterpump done and the coolant replaced again! It's having it's 27,000 mile service too.

I have asked them to see if MBUK will contribute a goodwill payment bearing in mind the low mileage. I will also be presenting my membership card and see how much discount they'll give me.

The main reason I'm on here is to 1. get the above off my chest and 2. :?: does anyone know what the wheel offset is for a V Class as we have decided that the standard wheels have seen better days and we want to get new ones.........anyone got any ideas or experiences?

Hi

Sorry can't help with the wheel off set. But its more than likely stamped on the wheel somewhere. If a steel wheel on the front . If an alloy then on the inside.

V class's I must say with out starting an avalanche of disenchanted owners and complaints. Arn't the most reliable of vehicles. I did here thay MB are stoping production. I havn't seen anything in the press as yet.

Keep on trucking. The idea is brilliant. But experience tells me there are still more troubles ahead.

Regards

Thanks for that Andy.

I was told when I was doing my homework that they were quite reliable as they were based on the solid Vito. Obviously not!

My stellaship does seem to think that I've been really unlucky, but they would, wouldn't they!

My wife read your post and went OH GREAT!

I am lead to believe that the new one will be out in the spring.....have seen a few 'spy' shots but nothing clear yet.

Obviously it will soon be all my fault for chosing a van! 8)

Dear all,

I also want to buy a Vito, but I also heard some horrible story like yours, (Sorry about that), but clearly the Mercedes build quality, like from the W124 to the W210, was going down...

I just wondering, is the Vito generally not relible? so how could though Vito 'white van driver' use it as a Transit??

Gary!

Apparently the Vito is quite reliable. motoring press and friends say so!!

It has been reliable apart from 'isolated incidents' the wife won't part with it so on we go. 8)

I have just laid into MB customer services and will see how much they'll cough up towards the latest failure.

Hi,
My V class was very unreliable from new I had problems with brakes, clutch, engine oil sensor, electric windows steering vibration amongst many others.
The build quality was totally unacceptable Mercedes did not want to know
when I complained.
If you search the many mercedes forums on the internet you will find that we are not alone in having serious problems.

It is a real shame mercedes ruined a vehicle that had such good potential.
