Hi all down on my holidays and engine light has just came on RAC read the code and is P0128 I know thats its a thermostat or sensor problem whats the best way to start looking on a 2007 2.5 V6 petrol engine temp seems ok thanks
P0128 is saying the engine is not quite coming up to temp. So, running cool. You may need a new stat...but carry on with your holiday and get it checked when you get home.
Hi and thanks for getting back do you think it might be the temp sensor as the engine temp rises to 80 in about 10 minutes and the RAC man could not clear the code when the engine was not running and cold thanks
Hi and thanks for all the advice down in Truro Cornwall rang the local main deale quoted 375 for a replacement thermostat you must be kidding can any one give me the part number eurocar parts 75 with the promotion code and about an hour of my time can any one beat this price thanks
my 2018 c180 ( 80Kmiles ) had this p0128 error previously, i changed the o2 sensor and battery cables and now i had no. You have to read obd scanner tool descriptions carefully, because if you want to do it your self for fixing, you need some know-how.
Last week, engine light came on, on my C200 2.0 Petrol 4matic (had it since July 2024 with no problems so far).
Borrowed my dads cheap ODBII tool which came up with code P0128, but little else. Googling suggests the thermostat as stated above.
Anyway, got it booked into Evans Halshaw where I bought it used, and took out their 2 year 'Premium Guarantee' on it.
Anyway, the warranty paperwork suggest the theromstat is covered, but seals and gaskets are not.
As part fo the booking, I had to agree to the £150 diagnostic fee, then the result of which will be sent to the warranty company, and if its covered, they'll authorise the work and there'll be nothing to pay. Obviously if it suggests the gaskets/seals, they may refuse and I'll have £150 diag fee to pay.
So question for thise who've had this code - is it likely to be the main thermostat at fault/needing fixed/replaced, or could thye be likely to pinpoint the gasket/seals?
