Parktronic and Towbar

I have a new shape C Class Estate and it is fitted with Parktronic sensors in the rear bumper. I wish to fit an aftermarket towbar (probably a Witter, because the MB towbar will not accept my cycle rack) and electrics. I just wonder if the towbar gear will interfere with the parking sensors. I have roughly attached a cardboard box of the approximate dimensions and position of the proposed towbar and the sensors do not seem to be phased by this, operating OK. Has anyone had any practical experience of this?

Has nobody on the forum any experience of my query? Has anyone tried with the MB towbar and sensors when the towbar is not retracted?

MB do a towing pack with upgraded cooling etc in the engine and cars with parktronic will disable the rear parking sensor when the towing bar and electics are connected with a trailer.

I have a cheap solution for you, when towing, turn off the parktronic if you fear the trailer will interfere....

ST4 - I appreciate that I can switch off the sensors and certainly will do when towing a trailer! I just hoped that someone would have a towbar fitted who also has the rear sensors and can inform me if the towbar will interfere with the sensors. My experiment with a cardboard box mock-up seems to suggest that the sensors are not affected by the towbar & ball. However there is nothing like confirmation from someone who has the bar & ball actually installed!
